You can do anything you set your mind to. Create that goal and aim for it from the very beginning.
That's what my mother always told me growing up and even now. Here I am, an almost 23 year old blondie still living in my parents house.
But I am still active.
I cook, clean, run, work, study and get some sleep when necessary. I like the color purple and wear the least amount of makeup possible. My running belt and rosary are my best friends.
I enjoy being part of a running group or team. Quite a few years have gone by where I have struggled with running as a loner. It is difficult to find motivation to put on those running shoes and head out for that 6-miler. So, why do I still run?
I changed my diet.
Changing one aspect of your daily lifestyle might just transform your opinion on something as common as running. I started eating healthier. No more junk food or processed snacks. Tons of fruits and vegetables and a daily meal replacement. Check to make sure you include enough protein and iron in your diet. Drink alcohol in moderation. Use workout recovery drinks and drink plenty of fluids while in motion.I began to feel better as I ran. Overtime on daily runs, I discovered I could not only run farther, but also faster. You have heard the saying that running is a love/hate relationship? Many of us hate it because we have to make time for exercise in our schedule or are trying too much too fast. Many of us love running because of the end result. You'll find an outlet to clear your head after a long day or finish that half-marathon just over 2 hours.
So put your rear in gear. Rise up off that couch, tie those tennis shoes and head out into the sunshine. Start slow. Breathe. And leave that iPod behind. Marvel at the world we have been blessed with, that you have been missing out on while watching that daily television show. Listen to the sounds of the earth.
Life does not have a reset button. Pick up from where you have left off and begin a new course.
